Destination#3: Gopeng --> Kampar
So we were lucky to catch the bus to Kampar from Gopeng because it was almost dark when we reached the small town of Kampar. Once we got down from the station, we went inside the first hotel that we saw - Regal Hotel.
After we bathe and changed, we were supposed to go out and eat dinner but unfortunately, it started raining cats and dogs so we had to wait until the rain stopped, in our rooms. Again, we hung out in the boys' room.
Actually, we are very thankful for the weather. Even Suz C's mother mentioned how lucky we are with the weather because she said that it was raining heavily for the past few days in Ipoh before our arrival. The times when it rained heavily, we were within the "protection and comfort" of our hotel rooms, and not when we were sightseeing. Wai Yin credited it to Hanson's babi aura. Haha;D
Anyway, when we were watching TV, suddenly we heard a small "bang" sound, one of the lights turned off on its own and a burning smell followed.
What happened was that Jino's camera battery charger had exploded and melted, giving off a burnt plastic smell. And in the process, 'trip' the light switch. Jino thinks it was maybe because the charger was a little wet and he did not dried it properly before using it to charge his camera battery.
WY fixing the light switch - Girl Power!
After the rain finally started to end (and a bag of chips later - because we were SO hungry), we walked in the drizzle to the food courts nearby the hotel. WY wanted to try the satay沙爹 so we chose the food court that had a satay stall.
Our dinner - My mee was way too spicy for me so I did not finish it. The satay was nice though, with lean meat and not so much oil
After dinner, we went in search of Kampar's specialty - Curry Chicken Bread.
When we went inside to buy one, we saw a wedding couple. They had their wedding dinner in the upstairs room of the same restaurant
We walked further around the shop houses to see what else they had. Lots of shops selling shoes. Hehe. Then we saw this:
This is what I bought - 2 packets of "kai chai peng" that I liked so much and the remaining two is for my mom, who enjoys these snacks. I spend RM16.70
Our hotel - Regal Hotel
Dr. Hanson dissecting the bread. We did an awful job cutting it up. The curry spilled all over the base of the box:(
The bread was really delicious but it was so big that all 4 of us were so full and could not finish it. The bread tastes nice, soft and sweet. And I simply love Curry Chicken but this one was not spicy at all. Thumbs up! A must-try!

After watching more TV, chatted and joked around, we all returned to our beds and await the next day...
