it's friday the 13th

And it's also Mr.KKL's 21st birthday!

_________________________________________________

Since it's Friday the 13th, I feel obliged to post something here. Ha-ha. But since not much happening lately, so have to just bear with me as I post something totally random. Lol.

So how am I spending my hols? Of course, with full-force indulgence! Sleeping, reading, internet surfing, music and watching the greatest invention ever - the television... (J.L. Baird is my hero!)

1) the Music addict

Well, more like DavidCook's music addict, although I think DavidArchuleta's version of "Imagine" (originally by John Lennon) is near-perfection (a must-listen!).

Anyways, the more I listen to this song, "The World I Know", the more I am in lurve with it. No wonder DavidCook was so eager to sing this song for the finale. I also heard the original version by Collective Soul but it does not even come close to DavidCook's version, which is just simple and sweet. Lovely.

The World I Know

Has our conscience shown?
Has the sweet breeze blown?
Has all the kindness gone?
Hope still lingers on
I drink myself of newfound pity
Sitting alone in New York City
And I dont know why
Are we listening to hyms of offering?
Have we eyes to see that love is gathering?
All the words that I've been reading
Have now started the act of bleeding into one
So I walk up on high
And I step to the edge
To see my world below
And I laugh at myself
As the years roll down.
Cause it's the world I know
-It's the world I know-

2) the TV addict

I am seriously one heck of a TV addict. I practically memorized all the TV shows guide everyday. Lol. I know, pathetic yes. But lately, there is this one show that captivated my interest. I first saw them on "Oprah", where they came on for an interview. After that, I gave their show a shot and found it absolutely interesting.

The show is none other than "Jon and Kate Plus 8", now currently showing on Channel 733. And omg, those kids are so so so precious. Cutie-pies:)

It tells about this couple, Jon and Kate, who, through artificial insemination, got themselves a pair of twins and sextuplets!

I know, sextuplets! Alexis, Leah, Hannah, Joel, Aaden and Collin. And they are so freakin' precious ok? Cute would be a trite thing to say.

Being an only child, I cannot imagine myself being 1/6 of sextuplets. But isn't it kinda cool though, when you go to school? Having 5 of your siblings in the same year as yourself? Lol. A bit kesian-lor, to see the mother. Those kids so naughty and hyperactive...just like children, I guess.

3) the Quotes addict

I first fell in lurve woth quotes early on in Form 6, because my then English teacher, Pn Jaya K., recommended we include quotes in our essays. So being the "dilligent" student I was back then (*rolls eyes*), I did some research into looking up on quotes and the more quotes I found, the more fascinated I become of them. And it's not just quotes by famous people and important literary figures. Even simple quotes from TV shows and chick lit books are also, I found, a very fervent thing to me.

So recently, I found this site on quotes from gossip girl. Okay, I know, this is kinda unconventional but when I read them, I must really applaud the writers on the show for all these catchy phrases. Seriously, I think people don't give writers enough credit, y'know.

This is my fave:

Blair: Chuck Bass is a romantic. Who knew?
Chuck: Now you know. And that is all that matters.

Awww...actually the reason Iike this is coz I like the pair of Blair & Chuck. Lol.

Blair: (to Georgina) Haven't you heard? I'm the crazy bitch around here.

Ha-ha. So straightforward and direct. I like.

well, I guess that is all...a totally random post. now excuse me as I am going to curl up on my sofa, listen to davidcook and read the chronicles of a gal who is almost turning 30, whose boyfriend cheated on her with her longtime friend, and then she sleeps with his best friend. Lol.

P.S....:P

4) the Crap addict

HoNg HoNg says:
promote la anything about me
HoNg HoNg says:
good geh
HoNg HoNg says:
bad geh
HoNg HoNg says:
watever also can
HoNg HoNg says:
as long as my name is there

I present to you - the voice of a desperate man. Since I am such a responsible blogger (*ahem*), I feel inclined not to present any false information regarding promotions or advertisements in this blog so I just let you to draw your own conclusion from the above msn conversation.

P.S.S Chu, i am waiting for my advertising fees:P

*updated*

I decided to delete one of my controversial previous posts because I don't want to taint my blog with it. The thing is, I know "something". And that "something" is killing me inside which is stupid because it has nothing to do with me at all. But I hate myself for letting it get to me, which is why, hence the title: "it's fuck to be me right now". Anyways, I guess it is time for me to change my focus to other important things. Otherwise, I will let this thing haunt me for the rest of my jubilant holidays.

So this is what I had been up to last week:

04/06/08 ~ Dinner @ Chilli's with BFClassmates.

I could only post this up after I stole the photos from Ben and Jino coz I did not take much pics that night. Lol. So blame them for posting these pics so slow. It was so great meeting up with all of them again. Gosh, how I miss the all the fun and the jokes and the crap. Lol.

First it was Saisaki. Then Equatorial Hotel. Then Chilli's KLCC. Finally it is Chilli's MidValley. Finding the right venue is hard, trying to please everyone and added to the fact that everyone are on different paths now, it is intensely difficult to suit everyone's schedule.

Despite that, the turn out was great. In fact, the best, I think, since Wai Loon's and Valerie's 19th Birthday gathering.

I am so ecstatic that everyone took the effort;)

WY, Kianty, Moi and Looney. We did this pose for Jino's camera because once again, Jino did something silly for us to ridicule him. Lol. If I try to explain it here, it won't be funny anymore.

Moi, WY, Tsuwern, and Chu. I have fat arms. So? Bite me.

I have no idea what we were all looking at. Anyways, the table was really long. No shots to show for it though.

The only pic I took of the night (except the nachos).

Front row (seated L-R): Li-shia, Moi, Tsuwern, Kianty, Ben, Liling, Len and Yee.

Back row (standing L-R): Waiyin, Phon, Phakhoe, Vincent, Wailoon, Valerie, Sitoh, Justina and Jino.

Outside Chilli's - one of my fave pics because at that very moment, phakhoe cracked up one of his stupid jokes, hence my very distorted face that Ben managed to catch.

07/06/08 ~ Lunch with Mom @ Chilli's KLCC.

Actually, there was supposed to be another lunch gathering that day at Sri Petaling but Saturdays are the days Mom and I run our errands. For one, I finally washed my Cambodia photos and they all turned out superbly well. I swear, that guy did some photoshop to my pictures or something.

Also, it was finally time to do some furniture-shopping to refurbish my room at my new apartment. Well, not exactly, my. There are 10 people sharing. Kinda scared once I start thinking about it. First time I will be leaving out there on my own. But when I think about how every weekend I will come back, it suddenly did not seem that much of a challenge anymore. I have taken photos of my new apartment. Will blog about it another day.

We had lunch at Chilli's. I know, what a coincidence...not! But before that, we did some shopping at Isetan since they had sale. And to think, that night during the BF Dinner, Kianty was coercing all of us girls to go shopping at Isetan. Lol.

I almost bought a top from SEED. Well, almost. But stupid me went and saw the price tag wrongly. I thought the blouse was RM59 and had 50% disc so - 59 / 2 = RM29.50 - not bad right for a SEED blouse?

Only when the cashier scanned the price tag, did Mom suddenly asked me how much was the blouse. To my surprise (and Mom's outrage!), the blouse turned out to be originally-priced RM99! So after discount, still RM49.50, which is not worth it for a simple blouse like that. Haih...then we had to get a SEED assistant to cancel the purchase. Embarassing, no? A day in the life of Fiona Tong...

Chilli's was packed to the brim when we arrived. Btw, you will not see any photos of moi because I have these huge zits (three, to be exact) scattered on my cheeks. And since I do not have the pleasure of owning the "miraculous" photoshop program, I refused to allow my fugly face taint this blog. Lol.

Chocolate Banana.So.Heavenly.

Something to do with cheese sandwich and beef. Too good to even be described.

Of course, the one and only Chilli's signature dish - Triple Play.

Since I did not splurge the RM50 on clothes, I spend them on books instead. I know. These days, I somehow lost the obsession with clothes and handbags and shoes and accessories. Nothing in the shops seem to captivate or mesmerize me as they used to.

Instead, when I entered Kinokuniya, I felt like a kid in a candy store. I swear, that euphoric feeling I get when I see books is something I had not felt for a long time. I guess I had grown tired of the superficial part already. Books seem to be the best companion nowadays.

Also, how could I resist Agatha Christie's books going for only RM19.90??? That is ten ringgit less than what I usually pay for!

Now, I am not really a fan of chick lit. In fact, I never read that acclaimed Shopaholic series before either. I always wanted to give chick lit a try, just to see what the buzz was all about but every time I read that short synopsis at the back cover, I somehow lost interest. I just feel that the plots and storylines are too far-fetched in reality.

But I have given local author Mayzhee Lim's chick lit - "Sweetheart From Hell" a try just to see how this young prodigy's works are like.

Just like I guessed. The storyline - way too unbelievable to happen in real life. Protagonist "conveniently" dates an Asian mega-celebrity? Lives in penthouses? And then scored a job in Vogue America? Uhm, yeah, sweet dreams are made of these.

On a brighter note, the humour strangely left me feeling light-headed. Which, I supposed is the purpose of chick lit - as light reading and not for us to take it to seriously.

Which is why I bought another one - "Frenemies" by Megan Crane (it helps that there is a 20% disc).

07/06/08 ~ Dinner with family.

Yesterday night, both my aunt and uncle cooked up a scrumptious dinner to commerate the "zhong" (dumplings) festival. Since my family is so small, often my uncle and his family will include us in the festivities' dinners.

The food was so great that I think I over-ate. Haih...

Also, my aunt just came back from USA. She went there about 3 months ago and tour almost all the cities. So fun hor? She took so many pics. I swear, I went a little envy seeing those NYC photos.

And then it was souvenirs time!

Hollywood California T-shirt

Lotsa earrings

Necklace with huge pendant

Layered necklace from Corning Glass Market

I so want to go US too but I think I want to plan my trip around the same time DavidCook makes any appearances. (I know, aren't you sick of hearing about him in my blog?) I told me Mom that I want to start saving money now so I can go holidaying in USA after I graduate, as a gift to reward myself.

Mom: Ok, if you get good results, I will help to subsidize your trip to US.
Me: Yay. (Then a pause as I think for a while)
Me: What do you mean by "good results"?
Mom: Well, how much to get into the dean's list?
Me: 3.5 and above.
Mom: Hah? So easy one?
Me: Swt. T____T

dance dance revolution

Ugh...holidays are about to end...so soon! I am so not looking forward to going back and mounting up all the stress again. *Sigh* I guess all good things must come to an end, as incredulous as I am. Results are also out on the 18th. Time to see if I sink or swim.
From belinda chee's blog: "If you look at what you do not have in life, you don't have anything. If you look at what you have in life, you have everything."
_______________________________________
My latest guilty pleasure of reality tv shows is none other than "Dancing With The Stars."

Helio and Julianne dancing the quickstep

I know. I am so not even a fan of reality tv (well, except American Idol, but that is an exception because I only watched it when they actually had great talent worth watching, like the latest season. It helps also they had gorgeous looking guys.lol)

Currently, BBC Entertainment (Channel 731) is showing Season 5 of DWTS, which sadly, is old news because in the US, they already crowned the winner of DWTS 6 a few weeks ago.

But if you do not care about who will win the competition (spoken when one already knows the winner) and just enjoyed the performances from these amateur entertainment has-beens (and some not so famous ones), I can assured you this show is highly addictive.

I am serious. I had no idea I would enjoy it so much and to think it was me mom who coerced me into watching it at first. Well, technically, we only have one TV at home and obviously, the mom's words are the majesty's words.

Mel B and Maksim doing the paso doble

Well, it's tonnes better than that crapshit "So You Think You Can Dance Malaysia?" If the first episode is anything to go by, it totally sucks. The host, Aishah Sinclair, not only looks like her hair was caught in a tornado and her clothes bought from some auntie flea market but her commentary skills were awful. I hope this is just a first time glitch because I do like her, but honey, you really did a ludicrous job. It was obvious you did not take your job seriously and did not give a damn trying to memorise the script. All throughthe night, she was fumbling her words, looking at the cards the whole time and basically, just annoyed the hell out of me.

And don't get me started on the judges. Oh gawd, I wonder how much time their brain need before it starts functioning? I could pulled all my hair out just waiting for them to even start talking. If you even understood what judge Ramli Ibrahim said, you are a loser or some alien from outer space. Because obviously, he is a female-version of Paula Abdul, only older, less charming and worser dress sense. And I think there is an unspoken rule that the more crapshit stuff (disguised as comments) that you talked, the smarter you look. Yeah, like hell.

The dancers...ugh! You know what? Malaysia is always so sensitive and narrow-minded. What happen to the chemistry dancing partners are supposed to have for each other? It is just a dance, for goodness sake! Just act it out-lah, nobody expect you to actually fall in love with your partner or call you a slut if you act all intimate. I swear, that gal Viv's tango - like 2 broomsticks dancing. No wait, 2 broomsticks dance would actually be more interesting. I think I would rather hang myself than to watch that horrible dance again.

Jennie and Derek dancing to the mambo

I really hope all the contestants will buck up. I will "forgive" them since it is just only the beginning.

Otherwise, the new title should be "So You Think You Can Dance In Hell?"

ten reasons i ♥ david cook (as if we all still need convincing)

'b' can be so damn unreliable sometimes...really dun wan him as a fren anymore...wtf
Oh you have to read this. Apparently there is a gossipgirl wannabe in Kuching who tries to make drama from no drama at all. Who knew, Kuchingites are as famous as New Yorkers? Or so Rumour Chick claims to be.
____________________________________

Classic Michael Johns quote (from Larry King when asked about idol David Hernandez who is gay and used to be a stripper): "If I had a body like that, I would strip too."

Before you continue, let me warn you that I am slightlycompletely obssessed with DavidCook. If you are a fan of DavidArchuleta or cannot stand a celebrity-obssessed girl, pls do not continue.

One day when I looked back on my 102nd post and see how infatuated I am with DavidCook, I am so going to laugh at myself.

DavidCook says thank you to his fans

If anyone is wondering for the lack of updates here, no, it is not because I have been going out.

I.have.been.at.home.the.whole.time.hooked.on.youtube.watching.mydavidcook.Lol.

Yup, I seriously think I have a gigantousobssession with that guy.

I hardly even watched the latest American Idol season at all, actually. Well, cannot help it if you are stuck in the hostel with no TV and tonnes of work that always seem never-ending. So yeah, I have to admit I have not actually been keeping up with AI 7 at all.

Then came that time when I saw the now-so-famous-performance-that-every-blogger-is-talking-about when mydavidcook (I so cannot call him DC because it reminds me of Denise Chin. Lol) sang that version of Mariah Carey's "Always be my baby". That guy totally changed my perception. All along, I thought davidarchuleta would win it all but after that performance, with that sexyhusky power vocals and that handsome face and that soulful gaze in his eyes (did I mentioned I am obssessed with him?), I just look forward to his performance every week.

Mom is a fan of davidarchuleta, anyway. Lol. So I won! Lol. Yeah, my Mom and I were at opposite ends during the season's finale.

But you know what is even better?

In AI 4, I rooted for Bo Bice. And Carrie Underwood won...(I like rockers)
In AI 5, I rooted for Kat McPhee. And Taylor Hicks won...(Lousiest season)
In AI 6, I rooted for Blake Lewis. And Jordin Sparks won...(BL definitely was different)

So yeah, you see, I am not such a so pah sing (bad-luck charm) after all. Lol.

Both Davids guitar hero commercials

So, without further adieu, I present to you the top 10 reasons me love mydavidcook:

#10: Because he has tattoos and tears

Yes, how often do you see a tattooed man who not only gets so into the lyrics but also into his emotions? Freakin' sexy (for me anyways).
#9: Because he has a rockin' sense of fashion style

Hankies in his back pockets? Layered necklaces? Tonnes of bracelets? Custom-made cowboy boots? Need I say more? Don't really approved his style all the time but him in a smart blazer and jeans - the epitome of a "sharp-dressed man". Hey, give credits to the guy for being pretty metrosexual.

#8: Because he is humble and compassionate

This sounds like a pretty cheesy reason but really, when you come from a small town, ready to give up things to pursue music in another state, sing in bars, part-time bartending - you should be humble by the circumstances. Also, a brother who fights brain tumour for as long as you have been in music? And nothing is sweeter than what he did for Lindsey Rose, the little girl afflicted with leukemia, for whom he wears an orange bracelet for.

#7: Because he has freakin' great hair.

You know what, guys should take a cue from him. When your hair/fringe/bangs is as long as your fingers, get a freakin' haircut already. Gosh, sometimes I don't get guys who are so into this long hair thing, and the long fringe. It does not look sexy at all. Men should have short hair, like they are supposed to, not so short until you look like you have been enlisted in the army but not so long like you just joined the la-la slash ah beng army ok? Look at the wonders of snippets did to mydavidcook:)

mydavid cook on VH1's Best Week Ever

#6: Because he knows like, half the words in the dictionary (ok, I may be exaggerating there)

If you are an avid fan of AI7, you might have seen a clip where mydavidcook self-proclaims himself as a word nerd, indulging in word puzzles. So yeah, women are attracted to brains ok? Besides the other obvious reasons.

Been watching his past performances that I missed on youtube. And also been watching some American Idol Extra video clips (blame the holidays for all this free time) and mydavidcook is more than meets the eye. He graduated from college in Graphic Design, even designing the album cover of his first independent solo album, pre-Idol. And yeah, he might talk pretty slow and soft for my liking, but extremely articulate. Plus, intelligent words flow out of him like river (cannot find any better comparisons). All the contestants even voted him "Most Brainy".There is something about smart guys that I find hot.

#5: Because he has a freakin' sense of humour

But what makes him even more attractive to me is that he is absolutely hilarious. He tells all these stupid jokes and make funny but smart comments on the camera. Yeah, you know what they say; Humour is the way to a woman's heart. No, I made that up. Ok ok. The way to MY heart, anyway.

How can you go wrong with a guy who is not afraid to laugh at himself?

mydavidcook funny moments

Oh yeah, davidarchuleta is also pretty funny, in a I-am-not-trying-to-be-funny kind of way. Like, he didn't mean to tell a joke but then it turns out to be funny. Jino-like, I would say. The blur kind of funnyman. Mydavidcook calls it "dry wit".

Random fact: He and davidarchuleta are the only singles in the Top 10. Lol.

#4: Because he is so freakin' talented that American Idol can just wrap up because they will not find anyone better than him

Besides being a freakin' good-looking rocker (it is time for rocker musicians to be acknowledged. Cheers for that), is the fact that he does not let himself become the song, he lets the song become him. We all know he is the usual rocker musician dude and sometimes the crappy themes on the show makes him do these crappy songs. (Sorry but Dolly Parton songs?) What is interesting is the fact that he plays around with the arrangements of these songs to suit his rocker style. And that is a breath of fresh air because who wants to hear all these old classics again (except all the ahem..."much mature" audience) in that same old classic style? This is the reason I think Daughtry got out last time, coz he sang a song which was so not totally him.

He even make me like "Billie Jean" and "Hello" again. Credits to him for that. I have to admit, am not a big fan of classics, esp those back in 80s'. They can get pretty annoying sometimes. I only like the 50s' (the big band element) and Beatles. So yeah, I am quite specific. Lol.

#3: Because he has a great laugh

Ok, can argue this almost same as being funny but you know, some funnymen just don't have that laugh that can brighten up a room...ok, this sounds so like a girly calendar motivational words.

Actually, I saw this clip on youtube and found it absolutely hilarious. Catch mydavidcook's laugh at the very end.

Both Davids on Guilermo's Hollywood Round-up

#2: Because one year ago, he was still singing in a bar to an audience of five people, where four of them are employees

Or so he jokes on Larry King Show but yeah, it kinda gives hope. That a down-to-earth slash grounded family guy slash self-independent musician/vocalist like him can be discovered on a cheesy show like AI 7 and become so famous that little girls are crying for him? (Seriously, why is American Idol always afflicted with crying pubescent girls?)

Some may say he got the votes because he is good-looking but dearies, then why the freakin' hell is Michael Johns voted out then??? Yes, he is one of my favourites too. To sum it up, mydavidcook has the whole package - looks+talent - sends electric shots down the spine of every adolescent girl, single women in thirties, career women, rock and roll junkies, divorcees, spinsters, grandmamas, and gay men. Yes I crapshit you not.

#1: Because he has gorgeous green eyes!!!

Need I say or elaborate anymore?

Freakin' upset right now. If only I was born in the US. If only I was freakin' loaded. If only the new sem does not have to start on July 1st. Otherwise I would buy tickets to USA and watch them on tour. They even have a meet-and-greet fan session. Aaargghh! wtf. What I would do just to see mydavidcook upclose. I know, crapshit that Malaysia is like so damn far. Right now, he is on every kind of talk show there is, and legions of fans following him wherever he goes. Freaking 97.5 million voters and he got 56% ok? Won by 12 million. Like, wow? And that is US alone. Plus, he got a page on wikipedia. Lol.

Ok, clearly this is like the longest post I have ever written...Have I mentioned how obssessed I am with mydavidcook? It just seems no end to what I have to say about my idol.

I think he can just persuade me to work next sem break (I forgot to mention how lazy I am) so I can save enough money to go LA and NY, my two dream destinations in the US of A, and of course ultimately to see him.

Or I can just try to persuade Mom to let me do my Masters in US...(^_^)

Jay Leno: Have you ever run around in your underpants for the camera before?

it's my 100th post, y'all!

DavidArchuleta on The Early Show
The reason I posted this is because it shows a clip of little David back when he won in the Star Search singing competition. You can see that the way he talks then and now are so exactly the same! Seriously! The only thing that is different is that he is a hottie in terms of looks now, unlike that akward kid he looks back then!
____________________________________

Well, it is not technically my 100th post, but the previous one don't count-lah coz it is so short (you can see I am finding excuses here).

So, to commerate my 100 posts in the past 7 and a half months, I have decided to take a stroll down memory lane.
Yesterday night, went out with family to a distant cousin's 21st birthday party. After that, hung out at my uncle's house. It is then my aunt showed me and my cousins some really old photo albums that she uncovered whilst cleaning the storeroom.

So there we were, browsing what seems to be years and years of a collection of memories. Way back from photos of my late grandfather back in secondary school, my late grandparents' wedding, my mom and her siblings growing up, and of course photos of myself and my cousins when we wore diapers.
So here are a few snapshots of "those were the days..."
My mom (middle) and her sisters
My mom blowing the cake alongside her parents and four siblings
Me as a baby - I seriously think I have a massive head. Maybe that is why I also looked like I suffered from hair loss
Finally, as a toddler, I have some hair. Lol. I like this pic because I was actually smiling. I tell you, I hardly smile in most of my toddler photos. I must be some kind of deep and thoughtful thinker back then. At least I can say, don't blame me for not smiling now. I have always been like that

Trying to act cute. I tell you, must be my mom's idea of this cheesy pose. Lol
And so, in keeping with my theme of strolling down memory lane, I have decided to browse through some of my comrades' blogs and visit the post that gave birth to the thing that truly defines them for who they are today. Yes, I am talking about the first ever post they have written.

It is funny too when I looked through my posts. How they have evolved. My blog has been a journey discovering my style of writing and the perspective I had wanted for my blog. What did I want this blog to be about? And I realized that my posts have always been pretty random but one thing stays true - it has always been who I really am, not who I wanted the world to think I am.

I have to admit, some of my posts were also really crappy. When I read through them, I felt like deleting them. What in he world was I thinking, posting that? But then I realized those are the components that made up this blog - all the crappy and good posts. All those flaws are what make up this blog.

And the same goes to life as well. We have made mistakes we are not proud of back in the past, but we are unable to delete them as well because truly, they are what make us who we are today. That is how I feel like as I write this, that a blog is something like our lives as well, with all the perfect flaws thrown in.
The essential thing is perhaps, having a sense of acceptance. Accept the flaws and the mistakes we made. Until we find the courage to accept them, we will never move on.

Ok, so now in random and no particular order, I present to you the list that started it all:

FIFIONA talks about moi surprise birthday celebration at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa.
BF Classmates had an introductory post on the reasons behind starting the blog and all the members. This had to be my fave blog, hands down.
SimianD started with 2 test posts before finally he shared his experience in church camp. 6 months after his first post.
-conRad- gave a quick update about himself.
nyrac talks about a new beginning and updates after spm trials.
siedne just finished camp and is looking forward to her plans for the holidays.
[Jino] chronicles on the sad story of losing his money.
Kelvin posted self-written poem, "Metamorphosis".
LC gave a short intro about moving to her current blog.
Mel gave a book review on "The Chronicles of Narnia".
Effa Mas, my previous public speaking teacher starts by reasoning the name behind her blog.
LSCentral informs of her need to change blogs and links her old blog.
~Becky~ gave an account on how she spend her day with her grandma and her cousin.
Miss Orange reaccounts her passion for taekwondo back in secondary school.
Suzane posted about why she wanted to start a blog and how I fongfeikei her.
Selambakodok aka comedian Afdlin Shauki gave some great pics of himself in spandex and then talks about himself and how truly blessed his life is for being able to do what he wants.
Stickgirl drew what I can interpret as chasing after love and slipping on a banana peel in the process. But that is just how I see it.
Abszynth aka Msian model Jay Logan recollects on why she wanted to blog and traces it back to her Malaysian Dreamgirl experience. (I have never watch that show, seriously)
Everyone's favourite blogger, Kenny, introduces about himself and his blog.
S Kim (whose blog I visit quite frequently because she has a wicked sense of humour) did not fail to disappoint me.
Nicocoa aka Nicole Tan, the first blogger who became a columnist, gave a long elaboration of special diet tips. The word long is emphasized here.
Pinkpau had a emo post, recollecting memories of a certain person and incident.
Retrogurl (my fave fashion blogger) displays Jeremy Scott's "Fast Food" Fall 2006 collection.
Cheesie aka model/blogger Ringo only displayed a few pics of her trip to Korea Day 1.
Kirsten, a David Cook and US pop culture fanatic introduces briefly about her blog.
Sengkor, a self-proclaimed ah beng, discloses terms of a disclosure policy. Lol.
Teenage Lolita aka the teenage prostitute (or so she claims but I have my doubts) posted a long post about reasons she started her blog, the first time she lost her virginity and her fight with her father. Like a drama episode here.
Heather&Jessica, introduces on fugly (funny+ugly) is the new pretty.
Yes, that is enough blog-stalking done in one day...*phew*

visiting cambodia episode IV: the historical and spiritual part of my journey

Last week when Suz C mentioned about Darwin's Evolution Theory, you know, the "survival of the fittest" theory, it occurred to me that what if in this superficial world, everyone only wants to be with good-looking people, then will all the ugly people eventually be extinct? And then this entire world will only be filled with good-looking people? Lol. Makes sense, doesn't it? So, we should be thankful that our generation now is much better-looking than our ancestors were back then

You cannot spend so much money on a trip to Cambodia and NOT visit the extremely famous (and commercialised) Ancient Angkor Ruins. Commercialised coz in case one do not know, you have to pay USD20 for entrance fee.
But yeah, it was worth it coz this place is extremely historical and awesome in terms of its architecture. I might just be saying that because I have a thing for hostorical architecture.
#1: Baekheng Hill - Phnom Baekheng

To reach this ruin, one have to hike up a small hill. Not good for me as of all the days, I chose that day to wear a skirt. Yes:(

But it was just a short hike, and before long, we reach the Phnom Baekheng. According to my guide book, it is the state temple of the first capital at Angkor.

The steps leading up to the top of the temple were extremely steep, as seen in the pic above. Many people practically had to crawl on all fours just to go up the steps. Now, the book did not mention it but I did read in an article of a travel magazine in our hotel, that the reason these steps were built so narrow were so when people actually reach the top of the steps, they are practically on all fours and kneeling, hence a sign of bowing down and respect.

Despite being slighty out of breath, the temple was amazing, with all those beautiful inscriptions. You can see my very happy face there. Lol.

The only downside was that there were so many tourists there that it was hard trying to get a good shot of me and my mom.

The one inscription very commonly found were the apsaras. Not exactly sure its origin yet. Currently reading Ancient Angkor still. Might edit this later kua.

#2: Bayon

Another place that many people would not missed out on is the Bayon, one of the largest temples here.

Our tour group

This is the very famous 7-headed naga. Naga means snake here

The reason everyone was queueing to take pic with this Buddha was because it was the one that had the biggest smile:)

A mass of 4-face Bayon Buddha towers here

Dancing apsaras on the walls

#3: Angkor Thom / Ta Prohmn

Another place that we went to is Angkor Thom, or Ta Prohmn. This is one of the filming sites for the "Tomb Raider" movie.

Lots of ruins here

These humongous gigantic trees are one of the highlights of this place. Seriously, have you seen roots like this before? Our guide calls them the silver gold bark trees (I think he literally translated them from Mandarin) because when the sun shines on the bark, it glitters like gold and silver.

I enjoy taking the inscriptions on the walls. Each is unique as they tell a story.

#4: Angkor Wat

Finally our last destination is the Angkor Wat. We save the best for the last. However, the last was also a rainy day. We had sunshine for so long that kinda disappointed that it rain on our parade when we came here.

But the temple still looks amazing despite the rain

The library + a horse

The moat that surrounded the Angkor Wat. I likey the reflection the temple made

The bas-reliefs, which I believed were used as public baths back then

More apsaras on the walls

I really do not know what story this one tells but I can tell you it really captivated me

The amazing inscription depicting the Battle of Kurukshethra, from the epic Mahabharata

It was a long but beautiful battle inscription

I took this pic to show the headless Buddha statues on the sides. The reason is that thieves used to steal all these heads and sold them in the black market to Western collectors. That is why most of the Buddha statues here are not the genuine ones because they have moved them to the museum to protect them from thieves

Actually the Angkor Ruins is a huge place. You can spend one whole day here, enjoying both the sunrise and sunset. We also visited Elephant Terrace and Leper King Terrace but didn't take any pics. As well as the Bayon Gate.

But after a while, it does get a little monotonous.

teardrops accompanies me tonight

On 23/05/08, went out to MidValley with WY and Suz C. Whenever we are together, we can chat non-stop. Lol. Anyways, here are some pics of our lunch. We ate at Italiannies, Gardens MidValley.

I had the Creamy Carbonara

Suz C had Calamari Salad, I think

WY had shrimp pasta olio

Yours Truly

The good thing is that we did not buy anything! Yes, we control ourselves from shopping! Lol, well if you don't include a bday present I bought and some junk food. However, I still spend RM55...I know:(

Drew **** looks at me, I fake a smile so he won't see
that I want and I'm needing everything that we should be
I'll bet she's beautiful, that girl he talks about
and she's got everything that I have to live without
Drew **** talks to me, I laugh cause it's so damn funny
that I can't even see anyone when he's with me
he says he's so in LOVE, he's finally got it right,
I wonder if he knows he's all I think about at night
he's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
the only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star
he's the song in the car I keep singing, don't know why I do
Drew **** walks by me, can he tell that I can't breathe?
and there he goes, so perfectly,
the kind of flawless I wish I could be
she'd better hold him tight, give him all her love
look in those beautiful eyes and know she's LUCKY cause
he's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
the only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star
he's the song in the car I keep singing, don't know why I do
so I drive home alone, as I turn out the light
I'll put his picture down and maybe
get some sleep tonight
he's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
the only one who's got enough of me to break my heart
he's the song in the car I keep singing, don't know why I do
he's the time taken up, but there's never enough
and he's all that I need to fall into..
Drew **** looks at me, I fake a smile so he won't see.

Is it not funny when a song somehow describes my feelings so clearly? Haha, been there, done that. I guess she's right. There is nothing we can do but to "fake a smile" and just move on.

"Suffer in silence", as some called it, is a sign of true love.

I don't believe that crapshit anyways. If that guy is not interested in you, just move on already. I know it is much easier said than done, but better than keep hoping upon something that will never be. Life is no soap drama, y'know, life is not like, "suddenly" out of nowhere, the guy will "suddenly" realized he loves you more, and yabba, yabba...

Nope, never believe in that crapshit. Life is like that. Soap dramas have interesting storyline just to draw the audience (all about money baby). Of course, no one want to watch a drama where the girl likes the guy but then the guy likes someone else. The end. wtf right?

Anyways, this type of thing (when you like a guy who like someone else) is normal, I guess. If it was me, I will definitely be upset, no doubt. And most probably I will cry, depending how much I was in love with him. But what is important is that self-pity should not be an ongoing process. It should have a limit. Cry and cry as much as you want. Then stop and move on. Because there will always be tomorrow.

And despite me saying this, and all of us know that it is true, but really, no one believes it: Boyfriend/Girlfriend love is not really all that. Sometimes I see some people allowed Love to control them, rather than letting themselves control Love.

Feeling sorry for ourselves is not wrong, it only becomes wrong when it becomes an everlasting thing.
