And finally, my last post on my Sarawak trip, just a few days away from starting my new semester…
For our last day in Miri, MC thought it would be great if we all go on a casual shopping trip. I must admit the last day is actually the most relaxing day compared with the rest.
Although shopping in Miri is not as great as back in KL, I am glad we took a more relaxing turn because honestly, after ten days of travelling, I was a little exhausted (and homesick).
Besides going to Parkson Miri, we also went to Boulevard Miri.
BB and I went crazy for funky tee-shirts. There were not many people there that day because it was a morning on a weekday, so we both helped ourselves to the bundle of tee-shirts, searching for designs and colours of our choice.
I copped two tee-shirts for RM12 each.
The interior of the mall, decorated in Hari Gawai decorations.
When we were in Swak, Hari Gawai was approaching so everywhere you see there are many Iban decorations.
In Sarawak, one thing that I found to be different than in West M’sia is the use of coupon parking. Yes, I have never heard about it until now.
The way I understand about it from MC is that a person buys a book of coupons and then when they park in a marked parking area, they must scratch the date and time of parking on one coupon. Then, they will display the coupon on their car window.
Oh ya, btw the parking here, one hour = 42 cents. WTF? Does that even exist here in KL anymore?
For our last meal here in Sarawak, MC had asked her mother to cook some of her mother’s best dishes for us. It is good to eat home-cooked meals, cleaner and less oily.
Pork, dim sum, milin, pork intestines, vegetables – all excellent dishes, thank you to MC’s mother.
#23: MIRI TAMAN GANTUNG (HANGING GARDEN?)
Our last place of interest in Sarawak / Miri is Taman Gantung. It is named such because the main attraction in this park is the hanging bridge.
Me and BB did not missed posing for photos despite the rain.
We decided to climb up the main attraction. Although I have no fear of heights, I still feel a bit nervous climbing up the stairs. I did not even dare to look down. Lol.
The view of the long hanging bridge from on top.
As you can see, although the bridge is mostly made out of wooden planks, it is perfectly safe with high netting on its sides.
After breaking some sweat in the park, we finally loaded our luggage and head on to the airport for our night flight back to KL.
In Miri airport’s boarding room, after check-in. We bade our goodbyes and thanks to MC and waited in the boarding hall. Of course, to kill our boredom, we cam-whore, what else?
This snapshot reminded me of something funny. You see, BB and I thought it might be fun to use my camera’s self-timer to take pics of the both of us. But I did not bring my tripod so we had to build a makeshift tripod to balance my camera. One man saw how we were struggling to make my camera stable that he offered to take photograph of us. So paiseh. Hehe;)
We reached KL around midnight where BB stayed overnight at my house before leaving back to Batu Gajah the next day.
finally, safe to say…the end…
I have finally finished working for one month in Tokio Marine. Just a few days rest before returning to Setapak and begin my 3rd year…

Okay, this is still Day 6…
After our trip to Petronas Museum, we went to a shopping Mall but I forgot the name. I think we went to Parkson Miri.
Thirsty and slightly exhausted, we decided to try out this dessert drinks booth that already had a queue (so must be good, right?)
It is called “Kokoberry” and they had so many kinds of wonderful drinks that we took a long time deciding as we peruse through their menu.
In the end, we all ordered different drinks so we can try many flavours. I think I ordered coffee-flavoured drink (being the coffee freak that I am), BB ordered fruit or yoghurt something (being the health freak that she is) and Suzane ordered Chocolate-flavoured (which I like better, hee-hee)
And alas, it is time for Suzane to leave for KK, Sabah because her flight was scheduled on that day. It was sad she only stayed for a short time in Miri. I guess we all did not expect the bus trip to Miri was so long, that it took up almost one day, hence Suzane only spend less than one day in Miri. Good thing was that MC, being as efficient as she is, round up Miri in one day for all of us so Suz M will not miss anything.
Bye Bye Suzane and Happy Holidays
(P.S. I cannot believe I am blogging about this, after such a long time. I am going to meet Suz M in four days’ time. How ironic can this post be?)
One last group photo as again our group shrinks to only 3 people left.
Some random shots I took on the trip back from the airport. Many seahorses here in Miri =)
Because previously we had to send off Suzane so quickly for her afternoon flight, we did not have a chance to finish shopping at Parkson so we decided to return. I know, this is such a girls’ trip. Thank goodness for no boys. Lol.
But before that, MC brought us to have “ais kacang” and some rojak. If you have read all my previous Sarawak posts, you would understand why I am going to stay off “ais kacang” for a while now.
But on the contrary, all of the “ais kacang” that we had were really good, but I guess too much of a good thing can become slightly overload.
For dinner, we had rice set, just like back in Setapak but this one is yummier ;)
~DAY 7~
MC’s house is very near the airport. In fact, I think it is only about ten minutes away. She tells us that sometimes after check-in, she even have time to go back home first before boarding.
(Note: Check-in is usually 2 hours before flight).
This is a collage of MC’s backyard where her family grow all kinds of fruits, vegetables and even flowers. They are so many types that I forgot some of them. I remember that there are papaya, long beans, dragonfruit, bittergourd, guava, eggplant and some leafy veggies that I dunno whats-the-name. Okay okay, I admit I don’t really eat much vegetables. Haih…
# 22 MIRI ROUND GARDEN
One thing I noticed Miri has a lot, are gardens and parks.
Taman Bulatan, that MC said is one of the oldest parks here in Miri.
The miniature petrol station. Just like Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, they have an area to practice “lalu-lintas” here, complete with all the pedestrian signs.
Me and BB reliving our childhood. Hee-hee.
MC and BB having fun being a kid again.
The group photo of the West Malaysia people.
Some scenery photos of the park. Not bad, no?
My favourite thing about this park is definitely the bridge that had such colourful railings, reminded me of my kindergarten. Hehe. There is also a non-functioning clock tower in the center.
The colourful bridge and with me on it. LOL XD
Random snapshot of an old tree with many many many roots.
A testament to how old this park is, judging from the signboard. (Or it could also be due to lack of maintenance).
Last post coming up next….
