what is new? an angry junior, emo me, and we can all learn a little something from 2PM

Don't piss off a junior...this is what you get...*click here*

Terev bro, don't be upset ya~

******************

I have been so busy nowadays, sometimes I feel so guilty when I have to dismiss some things just to get my work done. I don't want to be a people-pleaser, but whenever I reject someone, I feel guilty afterwards and wonder if I have done the right thing? Should I just go ahead and fulfill someone's wish but trouble myself? Or should I just do things that will make me happy, doing things that I want to do, instead of what others want me to do? This is an eternal dilemma that I am constantly in. Sometimes it feels so difficult to explain to people, to justify my actions, for things that I don't want to do. I don't want to come up as a mean and selfish person, but I just wish my friends can understand what type of person I am and not get angry.

Anyway, emo aside, I have tonnes of things to blog about but because of my past hectic weeks and also equally stressful upcoming weeks, I am not sure if I even have the time to update. I have to get my priorities straighten out right now.

2PM Pictures, Images and Photos

Lately, as some of my friends know, I have turned into a huge 2PM fan ever since I started watching Mnet's Wild Bunny on youtube. I look for some news of them online and found this letter from JYP, the CEO of the company managing 2PM, arise from the latest controversy causing the leave of 2PM's leader Park Jae-beom, back to his home in USA.

This letter really touched me, I don't know why. Maybe in there somewhere, I see a Fiona too. When I first came to UKM, I really had a hard time adapting as well. I cannot speak a single word of Mandarin and everything here is just so different from what I grew up in.

I wish people can just cut Jae-beom a break. He is a good person and 2PM is just not 2PM without him.

Please come back soon, Jae-beom!!!

JYP's Official Statement on JaeBeom

I have received much shock from what Jaebum wrote 4 years ago to his friend. Could it have been another celebrity, I myself would have felt much anger, resentment, and abandonment at his words. But I have known Jaebum for so long that those words are not surprising to me.

I already knew Jaebum was that kind of child.

When Jaebum first came to Korea 4 years ago, he was very rebellious and out of line. He laughed at Korea and belittled his fellow trainees, even going so far as to see me as ‘easy.’ I believe he thought that being a Korean celebrity was something to laugh at. He was a boy that wanted to b-boy in the streets. He fought with company employees, his dance instructors, and made threatening statements.

At times, he even said that he did not like JYP Ent., and would name another rival company, wishing to be sent there instead.

But what made us surprised even more was that when asked whether he had the guts to succeed, he said “We could succeed if we don’t receive JYP’s music.”

At this point, employees wondered why we were keeping such a rebellious boy.

This is why his words 4 years ago are not suprising.

Then why would we keep such a kid?

I love rebellious children. Rather than children that are nice up front but are calculating and evil behind my back, I love children that are rebellious up to my face. I loved the fact that he showed his emotions straight up. It gave me hope. Who would have the guts to utter such words to my face? To say that his failure depended on my bad music? I thought that it was funny.

I believed that rebellious children had too much energy, just no place to express that energy. Or they never met someone that would trust them enough to show them the correct path. I wanted to help this person go on stage and feel the energy and joy. As long as I could instill within him trust and love.

To Jaebum, there are only two types of people. His family, and those that are not his family. He loves his family more than I could ever know. The reason he talks about money in interviews is not to buy nice clothes, it is to pay back his family, who always works hard for him. That’s why he ran the path of becoming a singer.

He was rebellious, but he excelled in training.

I saw this and thought, if only I could make him think of my company, his fellow trainees, this company as his family. if only.

So one day, I told him “Jaebum, someone is not a family only because they share the same blood. Please open your heart to them first. Then others can be your family too.”

Through these efforts, he began to change.. He began to hug his fellow trainees, start conversations with company employees, and began enjoying his time on the stage.

He finally began to express his energy on stage and began to shine through singing and dancing.

I chose him as the team’s leader. The rest of the 6 really believed in him and followed his lead.

He always trained with them and always thought of his younger members before him..

After his debut, he felt a change in his heart at the news reporters and attentions that showed him in a positive light and began showing affection.

He was touched at by the hearts of his fans.

Good people, good friends, good fans… good music.. through all this, he began to change.

But as things began to go up, like a sad movie scene, his entry from 4 years ago was released.

He was so sorry. To his 2PM brothers, to me, to his company employees, to his fans.. and to nobody more than to his Koreans.

He thought to himself that if he stayed any longer, his brothers would only get more hurt. He told me he did not have the confidence to get up on stage.

I knew what he was saying too well to hold him back.

If I were him, I would have made the same decision.

And so he left.

His last email to me said “I’VE BEEN A LITTLE PUNK IN THE PAST. I JUST WANT TO LET YO UKNOW THAT IT WAS A LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE. IT MADE ME A MUCH BETTER MUCH STRONGER PERSON AND I’M THANKFUL FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE FOR ME. REAL TALK.”

My heart was ripping. It hurt. But knowing what Koreans would feel at his words, an immense sense of betrayal, I could not say anything.

But what I can do for him is to tell everyone that he showed on TV is not fake. He might have been rebellious but never fake. He never hid his true emotions. He was always up front, straight up… and that is something that can never change.

I know the public and the fans and I am listening to your opinions. But the most important thing is that Jaebum is not 2PM’s Park Jaebum but a human Jaebum.

I genuinely wish for you all to hold his decision true.

I apologize once more.

JYP

korean freanzy...i heart astro channel 303

I love how the Koreans talk...haha...I am so going to imitate them soon...someone pls teach me how to speak Korean!!!

****************************************

So this past holidays I am so happy to be able to watch TV! Yes, TV plays a significant part in my life. LOL.

My favourite channel now is definitely KBS Channel 303. Especially the 11.20pm slot. Hehe. Monday got Entertainment Weekly for latest news on Korean celebrities (most of them I don't even know, but still funny to watch), Wednesday is Star Golden Bell Challenge (super super funny, the guest celebrities are so LMAO!), Thursday is Music Bank (latest, coolest songs) and then Friday is Two Days One Night, a variety show which also gives me stomach cramps because another damn funny show.

So sad my holiday break is coming to an end. I cannot watch these shows anymore...until my next break, which is study week then. Haih...

My favourite contestant on Star Golden Bell Challenge, Chung Lim. Not only is he handsome, but smart too. He got into the final round, but sadly, did not get the last answer right.

I am so loving this song "Candy to my ears" by Baek Ji-Young and Taecyeon of 2pm. I LOVE Taecyeon. He is hawt ;)

Thanks to Ai Li who told me about "Wild Bunny" on her blog, I went and watch one of the episodes where 3 members of 2PM (Taecyeon, Wooyoung and Chansung) and 2 members of 2AM (Jokwon and Seulong) formed, "Dirty-Eyed Girls", performing a parody of B.E.G.'s "Abracadabra". Damn hilarious weiii...must-watch!!!

Now, I also like the super cute Wooyoung of 2PM. Like small boy look hor ;)

He is quite quiet but also equally funny like the rest of the guys

But of course, my favourite is still Ok Taecyeon!!! He is seriously funny and good-looking as well =)

Ai Li, berani you mau rampas my Taecyeon!

Does anyone think Taecyeon of 2PM looks a little like TOP of Big Bang? Hmmm...

My favourite contestant in Two Days One Night is super cute boy Lee Seunggi. I am always rooting for him to win. Luckily, he wins most of the challenges. Haha.

With main host Kang Hodong. He is the only guy in this variety show that is still single. Hohoho. Besides that, MC Mong and Jiwon are also so so so funny. I laugh like mad every time I watch this show!!!!

Of course, I am also watching 8TV's episodes of "Night After Night" with my favourite actress Kim Sun-ah and utmost good-looking Lee Dong-gun. Seriously, this guy is so cute ;)

another day for procrastination

Oh no! "The Men Who Can't Marry", a really funny K-drama at Ch303 has finished today...Sigh, I am going to miss the eccentric Jo Jae-hee. The Korean variety show, "2 days and 1 night" is super hilarious lor...LMAO!!!

***************************************************

Today is one of those days where I wished I would have just stayed at home and do my homework instead of going out.

Went to Mid Valley to watch movie and have dinner.

Before dinner, went and window-shop at Niichi, Topshop, Dorothy Perkins and etc. Found nothing, although Topshop has more varieties and choices, the prices are way out of my league. Oh, and Diva has some really unique accessories too but nope, did not buy anything.

Had dinner at Canton-i @ Gardens. The food was okay-lar. Not to say bad, but honestly, nothing special also. For the price that we are paying for dinner, one would expect something more. But yeah, the food was not bad, pretty limited choices too.

My rice with tofu, egg, duck, roast pork, and scallops

Prawn wontons...they are huge...

After that, we went to watch the movie, "The Ugly Truth". My verdict: Nope, not my cup of tea. Pretty boring. Although some of the jokes were okay, but overall, this movie is corny, cheesy and the cliché of every romantic comedies out there.

This is quite a disappointment really, because I like Katherine Heigl in Grey's Anatomy. But to see her play such a character here is sadly, a waste.

On the plus side, the guys in this movie are quite good-looking. Gerard Butler is okay-lar but Eric Winter is cute ;)

Yes, I should have just stayed at home and try to get some work done. My pile of work is still waiting for me to touch them. Haih...

“…life is too short to blend in”

Hotness alert!

With the depart of 2pm's leader Jaeboem, now my favourite member has shift to geek-turned-hot-rapper Taechyeon of 2pm. Check out his collaboration with Baek Ji-young in this song: "Candy to my ears".

*************************

Nothing much to update about…life is kind of bland nowadays…

I am really glad for this Mid-sem one week break…it is good to relax for a while before the upcoming gruelling pre-exam weeks.

#1: Visit to Putrajaya Hospital (11th September 2009)

pic10

As I mentioned in my previous post, we third-years had our second Nuclear Pharmacy visit to the Nuclear Medicine Department of Putrajaya Hospital two weeks ago. (Sad thing is we had to write a report afterwards…knew this trip was too good to be true).

I think the visit was quite interesting and gave me a good outlook in terms of the perspective from a pharmacist working under nuclear pharmacy in a hospital.

We were divided into 4 sub-groups to visit 4 different sections – the Production room, Quality Control room, PET/CT scan room and finally, the control room.

pic1 pic2

The bus dropped some of us at the main lobby, and because yours truly was one of the few last ones to get down from the bus, a few of us were dropped near the main auditorium. We were here for the staff to meet and greet us, as well as to listen to two brief introductory presentations on the nuclear medicine department here in Putrajaya Hospital. Overall, the talk was very interesting, much better than going for boring theory classes back at fac.

pic7

The first destination of Group 2 – we get to go to authorized personnel area! Woo-hoo!

pic6

But before that, we have to put these ugly blue cover-ups over our shoes

pic8

Sia and Teo (of Group 4) inside the room…we were not allowed into the actual production room because it was a sterile clean room. We did go inside the QC room, which was filled with all kinds of laboratory equipment for the numerous tests (seven, to be exact) of radiopharmaceuticals

pic15pic3

After that, we went next door to the PET/CT scan room where usually cancer patients get their diagnostic imaging. A PET/CT allows us to see not only the anatomical parts, but also the physiological organs of patients’ body. Pic on the left is the entrance whilst pic on the right is a lead shield to protect the staff. After a patient is injected with radiopharmaceuticals, he/she can emit radiation, so it is better to shield oneself from them.

pic20

Inside the actual PET/CT scan room. Because the pics are not allowed to be viewed publicly, I have decided to not post them anywhere (only for private viewing). Above is the only pic I will post of how the actual PET/CT scan machine looks like. One of these can cost millions.

pic4The nurse who gives us the explanation is holding up an example of how a scan image looks like after the patient undergoes the PET/CT scan. It is different from X-ray because it gives a more 3D image.

pic5We cannot resist cam-whoring next to the super expensive and hi-tech machine. PET stands for Positron Emitter Tomography.

pic11 pic17

Because my group was the first to finish visiting all 4 sections, we had plenty of time to cam-whore around the department building. Pic on left with Carolyn, who was also in Group 2 with me. Pic on right with Wai Kuan, after her group finished. (Hehe, that pic made us missed the first bus going back to UKM)

pic12 Group 2 members – Lay Sin, Carolyn and the blogger

pic13 Group 2 members – Carolyn, Ka Wei, Mui Wen, Kah Hang and Lay Sin

pic16 Mixed groups – Sze Wei, Lay Sin, Ai Li, Wei2, the blogger, Huey Pin, Terev, Sin Wei

pic14pic9

More random photos: Pic on left is me posing with a funny signboard we saw when Lay Sin and I went to search for the ladies’ at the main hospital building. Pic on right taken of Terev (from Group 3) when we cross paths on my group’s way to the Control Room.

After our interesting trip, we had to go back to campus for our PBL quiz no. 3 on Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. Kesian right? We were all so exhausted but still have to study…

pic18 For those who saw Sia’s blog would know how she posted awful pics of me taking nap in the bus. So this is revenge. Haha. These pics are priceless because she is so hyper-active all the time. Taken in the library. LOL.

pic19A closer look

#2: Majlis Berbuka Puasa @ KTSN ( 15th September 2009)

p7 p4

On Tuesday last, I finally had the chance ( ! ) to wear my baju kurung that I have not touched since 3M orientation week back in first-year. We had a Majlis Berbuka Puasa with the staff and students of Faculty of Pharmacy at KTSN.

p6 p1

p2 Us seven fairies sat together at table no. 18 but we were later joined by 3 guys; Yu Siang, Ka Wei and Hock Peng

p3p5

At first Sia sat next to me but when she went to the stage, Ai Li baybeh sat next to me. Needless to say, Sia was not very pleased. Hehe. Shhh…Ai Li baybeh is wearing a retro baju kurung. Hohoho.

p8

We can finally eat our dinner after all the speeches and talk. The food was okay but sadly not very adequate, especially since our table had boys. I feel kinda bad for the guys not able to eat much after letting us girls take the food first. But it is good that they were such gentlemen. Makes me proud that chivalry still exists, and in Pharmacy too! =)

money is on my mind all the time

Lately, I feel like I have been overspending. Really, my money is flowing out of my wallet like liquid. And I feel really guilty because I keep telling myself to write down what I spend my money on, a list of spending, but each time I fail to do it. It is not that I am rich and have lots of money to spend, I think I seriously do not know my limit. Plus, I get so tempted easily. Maybe it is time for a new me, a new money-savvy me. I need to learn how to spend money wisely, instead of being so materialistic. Because I do not want to be known as a "pai ka lui".

Shopping, birthday presents, birthday dinners, T-shirts sold in uni, books, food...is there any way I can reduce my spending and still have fun?

HOPE YOU GUYS HAD MEMORABLE BIRTHDAYS!!!

******************************

This week is 2 words = super-busy!

2 lab practicals, 2 visits and one PBL quiz later, I am all burned out :(

I did not bring my camera to Setapak this week so no pics from the Old Folks’ Home visit (unless I managed to get some from my other coursemates’ cameras).

Yes, we had to visit an old folks’ home this semester for a Pharmaceutical Care Project where we had to interview and evaluate medications taken by geriatrics and identify what are the pharmaceutical issues involved, i.e. polypharmacy, adverse drug reactions, lack of patient counselling, etc. It was a very eye-opening experience, I must say. I went to a nursing home in Pudu (Thanks to coursemate Wei Han for helping with our location!) and honestly, it is a slightly sad and depressing place, but it is good knowing that there are nurses there to help with their medications, rather than letting the elderly handle their own medications.

It was also this week that we 3rd-years had another Nuclear Pharmacy visit. This time to the Nuclear Medicine Department of Putrajaya Hospital. The pics are courtesy of my roommate’s camera, which I forgot to take, thanks to my busy day giving numerous calls to Pos Laju to retrieve a parcel I was supposed to receive 3 days ago. So, I will blog about the visit once I get those pics next time.

Today (12th September 2009), after numerous unfortunate events, finally something made me smile. It is this restaurant of fine dining called Max @ iHaus, situated at Imbi-Bukit Bintang area. The food there was so so so delicious and dreamy. I cannot wait to go back there again!

The restaurant also plays a dual role of parading interior design furniture, which is why the interior of the restaurant is so sophisticated and delightful. But unfortunately, due to absence of a camera, I cannot take any pics of the place. Will do it next time I go there again.

It is too bad that this wonderful restaurant is situated at an area that is quite isolated. In fact, the road leading to the restaurant is actually a smaller road that leads off from the main road. A road that I am afraid not many will notice. If not because one of Mom’s colleagues introduce this place to my Mom, I don’t think we will ever know this place exists.

Anyway, this restaurant serves 2 specials daily for lunch. Each meal costs RM22 (plus 10%tax, it is about RM25). Not bad right? Plus, the food are super healthy. They use a lot of veggies and olive oil, perfect for those who wants a healthy lifestyle.

Mom and I ordered both the specials so we can try everything and I must say, I will give totally 5/5 to this place!!! Superb, and the service is good too (something you rarely see nowadays).

However, for those who are not into fine dining or eat a lot, maybe you should skip this place. Although the portions look small, but trust me, they are very filling. No point to over-eat oneself right?

haus1

First we start with complimentary bread. Soft soft bread dipped in mixture of vinegar and olive oil, a healthier alternative than butter. Seriously, the bread is so soft, one cannot stop munching it.

haus3

Appetizers are a choice between potato cream soup or smoked chicken salad.

haus2

Mom had this. All fresh green veggies with smoked chicken slices. Dressing is vinegar with olive oil. Too raw for me but delectable to Mom, who enjoys veggies a lot.

haus4

I had the potato cream soup. Very yummy. Inside they had delicious fried potatoes and chicken. Yum yum makes my mouth water remembering it.

Main dishes were a choice between beef pasta or dory fish fillet:

haus6

Mom had the pasta since she already tried the fish the last time. I tried it and the sauce is heaven. The pasta is also very soft and delish.

haus5

The dory fish fillet with cream sauce and potato wedges. This dish was simply heavenly, so scrumptious you cannot get enough of it. Highly recommended!

haus7

For dessert, although I was so stuffed, I wanted to try it. We ordered the fruit mixture of kiwis, dragonfruits, strawberries and plum. At the top, is mango sherbet. Compared with the main dishes and appetizers, the dessert was relatively a let-down. Nothing very special here, or maybe we should have ordered something much special. But, the prices of some of the dessert are even more expensive than the main dishes itself.
