overcoming exam stress, v-day and a busy shopping saturday!

Finally uploaded all the pics from my new hp onto my laptop (which came back from repair last week)...the pics quality aren't exactly great. I think some look not so clear but some look nice...could be due the lighting as well, esp pics taken at night are kinda bad.

So what do you do when you are under stress for mid-sem exams? We indulge in sweet stuff like yummy desserts!

Suz M having jelly in my room

Beryl's chocolates - bought this a while ago with Janice

Bitter dark choc and sweet white choc - so cute:)

Love this "tongsui" from Setapak...tastes really good...esp since it is so cold, perfect for a very hot night at KTSN

On V-day, Suz M accompanied me to do a new sim card to replace the one stolen. Went to Low Yat but the Celcom centre there say they cannot do it for me. So went back to UKM fac and took a taxi to the Celcom Branch at Jalan Raja Muda Abdul Aziz Shah. After that, Suz M and I took a monorail to Times Square to do some shopping. She wanted to buy a b'day present for her roommate. Finally decided on a handphone pouch. I also bought a purple one for my new hp (since the old one is stolen as well). Then, we took advantage of Body Glove's last day offering 50% discount on all tops and bottoms. Suz M copped a white tee and I bought a black one.

Studying while waiting for our food:)

Today went out with Hanson. Met up at Times Square, later went to the Maybank at BB plaza to bank in my cheque, then walked to Pavilion for lunch and movie, after that to Sungei Wang to buy Sui Teng's b'day present and finally back again to Times Square for dinner.

We ate at Ichiban Ramen, near Food Republic, the food court at Pavilion.

Hanson's unagi set lunch

My unagi don...I think Hanson's one seems more "tai"

We walked around at Pavilion looking at all the shops. Saw a really cute tee at Roxy but quite expensive...gotta start saving money for that tee now! Since I recently splurged on a new hp, I think I should start saving first and refrain myself from shopping!

My 2nd time at Pavilion!.......

............ But it is Hanson's 20th time here O.o

Before going into the cinema, still managed to enjoy Baskin Robbins ice-cream first!

Forgot the flavor...I think it is called "Lovestruck Strawberry" or something...a combo of strawberries, choc and cheesecake!

Hanson and I watched "One Missed Call", a horror flick. Hanson says that Jino recommended this movie to him, saying that it is pretty scary. I wanted to watch "Jumper" actually, featuring the very good-looking Hayden Christensen but since I had already make a date to watch that movie with BB and Suz M, so I braved myself to watch this horror movie.

Ok, so there were some really scary scenes. I sucked at watching horror films. I think there was one particular scene where I totally covered my face and missed the whole thing. It started off really scary as well, ok? Half the time I was covering my face, leaving only a small spot available for my eyes to see through the gap between my fingers. Hanson laughed at me and asked me to open my eyes "big-big" because I paid RM12 for the movie.

After the grueling one and a half hours (ok, it was NOT that scary...hehe), I bought a dozen doughnuts and iced coffee from J.Co before making our way back to Sg Wang.

We decided on an engraved pendant for Sui Teng's 21st Birthday present. His b'day is on 24th February, which is about 2 hours more. Hehe:) But we did not have any pics of him so we went to a nearby CC, log onto friendster and stole his pic from there.

After that, we went to Rooftop Sg Wang to buy a b'day card. Hanson says that there is one shop there that sells really cute b'day cards and he was right! There are many freakin' cute cards there, esp the pop-out ones.

This is my fave!

The shop also sells lots of other cute items...like this DIY display set!

We finally decided on this simple and cute b'day card

Me at Rooftop Sg Wang...wearing my new Body Glove tee :P

My twin bro...but I am cuter...haha:D

After that, we went back to collect our present...whaddya think?

I mms-ed a pic of it to Suz M and BB, and tho it seems weird to wear a pendant of your face around your neck, I still think it is a very special gift that he won't be able to find anywhere else. Anyways, I think the pendant looks nice coz he is a "lengzai" as well (he is M1 of UKM KKL!)

Finally after getting the b'day present, we walked back to Times Square. Hanson wanted to check out a shop that does tarot readings (as recommended by his roommate) but they had customers so we left. He had McDonald's for dinner whilst I had my doughnuts.

Fattening and unhealthy but yummy doughnuts!

Hanson went back to the hostel and I took the LRT home. The medic guys are having a surprise b'day for Sui Teng tonight. Here is wishing Sui Teng, a very Happy 21st Birthday!

hong kong showbiz with edison and lydia

Hong Kong news is making its headlines in our local newspapers nowadays. Ever since I have been staying in a hostel, I am not able to read my fave Star newspapers as frequently as I used to. So I only found out about these two huge news in Hong Kong entertainment through other "communication devices" since accessiblity to newspapers in UKM is limited.

Lydia Shum dies at 61

Sad, isn't it? I found out about Lydia passing away through Suz M, who heard it through the radio (her handphone radio...not the er...actual radio). She was battling with liver cancer for a very long time and finally, she lost the battle after all.

I grew up watching many of Lydia Shum's movies. Who can ever forget those comedies she made, esp those that always show during CNY times? Also, I am going to miss her hosting the TVB anniversary variety shows, in which she and Eric Tsang are always at each others' necks.

She leaves behind an only daughter, Joyce and ex-husband, Adam Cheng.

Edison Chen in a sex scandal with female celebrities

Ok, this is a while ago, before CNY, but I am only going to blog about it now. I did not know about this huge scandal until I read it in someone's blog. And I am ashamed to admit that I had seen those pics. Really disgusting ok? This is why, girls, you should never ever let anyone take nude pics of you or even take nude pics of yourself. If you so want to, delete it immediately after taking them. Once it is leaked out, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get them back.

So, Gillian Chung, Cecilia Cheung, Bobo Chan as well as Jolin Tsai were some of the female celebrities purportedly in the scandal with Edison. So shocking ok? Considering the fact that HK female celebs always potray such a squeaky-clean image (well, except Cecilia, she did get pregnant out of wedlock with Nicholas Tse).

Edison Chen is such a hottie, too bad he got entangled in this mess. I started noticing him way back when he was in Gen-Y-Cops (which was a lousy movie as compared with Gen-X-Cops). He has such a bad guy image that gals just swoon for. Bad guys will break your hearts but you just cannot help falling for them.

Even in his press conference in which he admitted and apologised, I still think he is really good-looking:)

part II: nokia 7500 prism, purple stockings, open house and cny valentine's day

~16/02/08~

As mentioned in my previous post, I lost my new handphone. I am still very much devastated by it. Don't know who the f*** took it. I dropped it accidentally in the UKM bus and half an hour later when I went back to the bus, it was gone. So damn sad ok? On V-day somemore.

So on Saturday, Mom brought me to see my cousin at Mid Valley to get a new handphone, after a very long lecture on my carelessness. No points for guessing the model of my new handphone (duh! see the title). Luckily, managed to claim the insurance on my lost handphone, so I had to pay another extra 200 bucks to get this new handphone.

We had lunch at this laksa cafe located inside Jusco.

Took this pic to tell everyone what a fake rojak this is - wasted RM5.00 down the drain - tasted awful

CNY decor at Mid Valley

Still feeling very CNY-issy despite the loss of my Nokia 3500

Got to wear my new sandals! Haha...LOL

There were many booths displaying Chinese culture. Really interesting so couldn't resist taking pics of some of the more attractive booths.

Besides that, I also copped...Simple Plan's new album!!! SO been waiting for this!!!

In the evening, we visited my late Grandma's younger sis's open house for dinner and more angpows:)

My cousins and their funky fashions

Moi at home after the function - had to leave early because I really wanted to study for my mid-sems:(

Like my purple stockings? A bit too funky for me, I think. But it did not cost me a cent to get these so it's ok:) no regrets

This time my Mom had an open house for all my neighbours and my Mom's ex-schoolmates.

She ordered the caterer called Banana Cafe which charged RM18 per head but my Mom minus the desserts so we got it a bit cheaper. Desserts were instead, courtesy from my very-skillful-in-baking aunt, who made coffee sponge cake and jelly.

The food tables set up in front of my house

The lambs were really dee-li-cious!

Mom still kept in touch with her ex-schoolmates after like, 30 years? Wish I could do the same as well!

Speckies girl cousins

My house - a very multi-racial crowd, no? My neighbourhood is Indian-dominant but they are all really good neighbours. Some KL people do not even know their own neighbours. Therefore, really proud that we have good ties with our neighbours:)

~21/02/2008~

My last paper for mid-sem ended today so Mom picked me up to go to my uncle's house for our annual Chap Goh Mei dinner.

Last Day of CNY *sniff*

My face post-exam - notice the huge eyebags?

My family have such great cooks! So proud of them! Hehe...

My fave - grilled salmon! I had like, 4 of these!

Happy Chap Goh Mei and a Happy Chinese Valentine's to Everyone!

first three (four) days of sin nian: part I

~07/02/2008~

My activities on Day One of CNY '08:
  • Had vegetarian breakfast at my uncle's house.
  • Went to my late Grandma's bro's house...all the way in...erm...somewhere really far that took a two hours' journey.
  • Went to Times Square with cousins.
  • Watch "CJ7", the new movie by Stephen Chow.

On the way to uncle's house

At my uncle's house with my ala Japanese doll-like cousin

Family pic on Day One!

Beloved cousins - Vivien, Sher Li and Deric

Since our movie was at night, we hit the arcades first

My aunt says that for those born in Years of Rabbit, Rooster and Horse were not allowed to wear Red on the first day. Instead, they should wear GREEN, hence my very un-CNY like dress...it was the only new piece of clothing that I have that resembles green:)

Anyways, CJ7 is such a cute flick...so not for those hardcore fans of Stephen Chow's previous works like Shaolin Soccer and KungFu Hustle. Nevertheless, I still lurve the movie. Those kids were so freakin' cute. The witty dialogue really got me laughing added with many cute unforgettable moments and also the very touching (but a little cliche) father-son moment. Thumbs up!

~08/02/2008~

On the 2nd day of CNY, we visited two houses. One is my late Grandpa's sis's house and another is my uncle's wife's family...which is 5 mins drive from the previous house. Both are located on Serdang, so it was not as tiring as Day One.

Mom and moi

Lunch at my uncle's house with "yee sang" as appetizer

"All together now!"

Enjoying a "ss" moment

Family pic Day Two

My cousin's cousin, Ying Ying - Is she not such a cutie pie? Here, we are teaching her how to gamble. Evil, no?

Don't be fooled by her innocent look - she can be such a minx

Because I grew up without a father, I am very close with my mother's side of family. CNY has been a very important time for all my Mom's siblings to bond since the demise of both my grandparents back in 2001 and 2002. That is why, I believe that Chinese New Year is All About Family! No matter how busy we all are, we should always allowed some time with family during this auspicious and meaningful time.

~09/02/2008~

Was supposed to visit my late Grandma's younger sis's house today but have been postponed to next Saturday, so instead Mom and I went to Pavilion to watch "Kungfu Dunk", the new movie featuring Jay Chou. Can you believe this is the first time I am going to Pavilion? I know, I am so ashamed as well. Been really busy with uni stuff plus my mid-sems as well. Even the self-acclaimed shop-phobic Hanson has been to Pavilion umpteeth of times...no thanks to his shopaholic friends...lol:D

My 1st time to Pavilion!

This used to be the old BBGS? But I have only been to the old BBGS once only...cannot really remember anymore

Yummy doughnuts

My 3rd time having J.CO doughnuts but my first time going there. Ordered the half-dozen but they do not allowed you to choose the flavours if you only ordered half-dozen. Mom and I ordered coffee so we do not have to tire ourselves with the freakin' long queue...

On Day 4 of CNY, did some shopping at Jusco Maluri. Looking for some formal dinner shoes. Found a pair of gorgeous black ones and also copped another pair of bling-bling sandals as well:)
