christmas shopping makes me tired but satisfied

It feels like I have been sailin' around KL yesterday. Went to lots of places. Got back home dead tired. But I still managed to spare 5 hours to chat online. Though I was really exhausted, but it feels good to get out of the house sometimes, since I am practically hibernating at home, with me having my final sem break.

~29/11/2007~

Mom took leave yesterday. So we did some errands around town and then later - shopping. We went to several places so I decided to just summed it up.

Within 24 hours, we went to:

  • MMA (Malaysian Medical Association) where I did my annual eye check-up. I found out that because I have 'high power', I am more prone to retina tear:(
  • UKM Library to see if I can borrow any books to read during the break. The library was awfully quiet with only a few Dentistry students visible.
  • Sungei Wang Plaza to do my fixed deposit, have lunch and do some shopping. Mom was still looking for her Red outfit for her annual dinner next week.
  • Wisma Cosway, near my Mom's office. We went to a vintage looking boutique called Avril Couture, where they sell a lot of formal-like clothings. Mom finally found a pretty Red blouse and copped another blouse as well.
  • Wisma Lim Foo Yong because I wanted to see if there are any nice bags at Magic Room.
  • Niichi Fashion City. Mom wanted to see if there were any other Red options there but there was not really anything nice in store.

The MMA building, which is behind my campus, near UKM's Dental Clinic

We had lunch at Shakey's Pizza, BB Plaza

Creamy Mushroom Pasta

Mom was having the Shakey's Snack Plate, which tastes and looks like the familiar KFC we all know

Random pics of Kay-Elle while I was in the car:

There was actually a mini demonstration at Bukit Bintang yesterday but I don't know what was the reason behind it

I don't know why but this red-walled hotel at BB kind of caught my attention

Couldn't resist taking this pic of the fountain in front of Crowne Plaza Hotel, Jln Raja Chulan

The picture of the weather yesterday through a blue filter on Mom's car window

Felt a little guilty about shopping a lot lately. I should try and control myself. Haihz...

* I always go to Chamelon every time I go to Sg Wang. I really like the cute headband. I don't normally wear headbands but this might just changed my mind.
* I went to Scholl @ Sg Wang to buy my "comfort shoes". The design of Scholl shoes are not attractive at all but they are damn comfortable. The most comfortable shoes I have ever wore and they last for a long time eventhough I wear them very often. I am not much of a sneakers person so sandals are my favourite shopping shoes.
* I was hesitant to buy this colourful cropped cover-up but the colours are so striking that I decided last minute to get it. Hopefully I won't regret my decision.
* Niichi Fashion City at Sg Besi is a huge warehouse filled with lotsa clothes. I am not really fond of going there but me Mom likes it because they sell clothes of her taste but with affordable prices. But Niichi is a good place to get dresses because they sell them in reasonable prices, mostly under RM100.

I know it's TOO early but...

MERRY CHRISTMAS PEOPLE!!! ENJOY YOUR SHOPPING!!!

are you happy with your life

"It is not about how successful you become in life, it is about how significant you are in life."

"It may be a risk to follow our own happiness but it is an even bigger risk not to."

As we grow older, we do tend to be even more unhappier. We start resenting ourselves for not having the "perfect" life that we expect ourselves to have.

Here are my 2 baby steps to learn to be happier:
  • Let go of the past. Let the bygones be bygones.
  • Be kind to others. There is nothing happier than to make someone else happy.

from 2007 back to the 1940s'

The 1940s' and 1950s' era sense of style and fashion is one of my favourites. Whenever I watch any post-war themed movies or those Shanghai gangsta period kind of movies, I always enjoyed watching the costumes that the women wore. It was sort of when the androgynous look started, with the form-fitting suits and the loss of ruffles and heavy skirts. Women opted for a simpler look then, enhancing their figures, and now with the return of the 1940s' look, it proves to be timeless as well.

Last month's issue of CLEOmag did a spread on the key items of the 1940s' look that caught my attention. It is interesting how the retro look is always coming back. But I do like this retro look the most as to me, its style showcases the empowerment of women. Eventhough the epitome of this trend is the tough chic look, however, it also displays a sexy and gorgeous feminine side to it as well.

So here are some key items to get that 1940s' look:

(1) Peter-pan collars

Peter Pan makes a comeback in the fashion runway!

I don't know why they named it after the green flying guy but I have to admit that this collar looks pretty cute.

(L-R) H&M, Erin Featherston for Target, and Mooie

(2) Anything high-waisted

I personally do not like this trend as high-waisted whatever are made for skinny girls. For pear-shaped people like me, this will just emphasize how huge the hips are. But you have to admit, there are girls out there who can rock this look. I like how it gives the hourglass figure, perfect for those gals that think their figure is too stringbean-like.

High waisted pants:

(L-R) S'nob, SeanJohn for Women's collection, and H&M

High waisted skirt:

(L-R) MissSixty, UrbanOutfitters and SearleNYC

(3) Pussy-bow blouses

All from papergirlsshop.com

I really think this look is sweet and feminine but if one is not careful, she may look like a stewardess rather than a 1940s' starlet.

(4) Cover-ups

(L-R) H&M, EDC by Esprit and H&M

My favourite cover-ups of that era is the vests (which is something overflooding shops nowadays) and the double-breasted jackets. The best way to look great in these is to find the cover-up with the perfect fit.

(5) Others

Other key items to achieve this look is waist belts, hats (fedoras are cool!), form-fitting dresses, boots, high heels and red lipstick (suggestion only...lol).

5 korean cutie pies take after the universe

the Universe = Big Bang as in the name of this new Korean hip-hop band which is receiving rave comments in Korea...

I first saw this new Korean hip-hop group on their reality show of the same name on MTV. Since the show ended, I have been looking for their album but have no luck finding any. Does anyone know where I can find Korean cds? Haihz...but I think they don't really have a demand here in Malaysia so I believe it will be difficult to get:(

Anyways, here is their latest single, Lies, which has hit several Korean charts. Click play if you are interested!

boom syndrome

BOOM Syndrome = Bored Out Of Mind Syndrome. Haihz....My five-weeks semester break started last Tuesday but luckily, I had many things to occupied my mind then (like, starting this blog) that I did not feel so restless like I am feeling now. The truth is, there are a lot of things I want to do but somehow, I just do not feel like doing them. Isn't it ironic? During my pre-exams weeks, I was constantly thinking of stuff that I can do during my holidays (instead of concentrating on my studies) and now, post-exams week pulak, I just cannot bring myself to do them.

~25/11/2007~

Accompanied Mom to have breakfast at Imbi Market in KL. I have not been there for a long time now. I used to go there every morning to have breakfast, back when I used to work at Reliance KL in Ampang, near KLCC. Nothing much has changed, except the prices. Honestly, everything is increasing its price now and I think it is absurd as the last I heard ONLY prices of flour has increased. Not only that, the percentage of increase is also equally ridiculous. A 10% increase in every bowl of noodles is much higher than the percentage increase of flour. People are just so opportunistic nowadays...

After breakfast, we looked around at the flea market there as Mom is still looking for her Red annual dinner outfit. And still, no luck finding any. So I listened to Mom complaining about the committee selecting such a difficult theme before we finally found one nice Red blouse. However, the man handling that stall was quite mean so we went ahead to another stall. This time, the lady was a friendly one (she wears really thick mascara!) but she did not have anything formal in Red. However, Mom did find a really cute brown-coloured loose-fitting blouse with pockets and a really pretty embroidery at the front. So she copped it.

As for yours truly, I did get something for myself. A pair of white shorts which caught my eyes as we were about to leave. Nothing really special about them but I quite like wearing shorts and this is my 3rd pair of shorts. Now I have one in black, brown and white.

RM 30

It occurs to me that lately, I have been buying clothes which are unsuitable for my classes (UKM dress code is no sleeveless and must be collared tees)...Haih...Am afraid I will only wear them a few times before giving them to me cousins.

Since Szu Kee has been doing some reading during her break, I think I should get started on my own reading list as well. There are a lot of books that I have abandoned and has never finish reading yet.

Most importantly, of course, is:

Yup. Lame,no? I bought this last installment just weeks after it was released but because of my mid-sems then, I only read a few chapters. After my mid-sems came the preparation for finals and then much later, my finals pulak. So now that my finals are over, I should probably complete what I have started.

For the past two weeks, I have went to Sungei Wang, Times Square, Mid Valley, Jusco Cheras Selatan, and One Utama. I think it is time to take a break (and my wallet can use a break too, lol). I just hoped that I don't waste too much of my time doing non-productive stuff. But then again, I am sometimes all talk and no action...*Sigh*

zoo escapees found in shopping mall

ALERT: A Monkey, a Fly (Lalat) and a Pig were spotted in One Utama Shopping Center, indulging in sweet desserts and going on a frantic shopping spree!

LOL...Ok, not really zoo animals. It was just me and my zhi muis having a get-together after not seeing each other for a loooooooooong time!:D

~24/11/2007~

I went to my orthodontist appointment in the morning. They made me wait for 30mins when my check-up only took 10mins!!!

@#$%^&*!!!!

Afterwards, Mom and I picked Wai Yin up. Mom was sending me and WY to One Utama (Thanks Mom for the ride!) to meet Suzanne Cheng. On the way there, we got caught in a massive jam that took us one and a half hours before we finally reached our destination!

@#$%^&*!!!!

LOL....Anyway, it has been months since I last saw Suz C because of the exams and the fact that she lives on the 'other side of the world'. It is nice to see us VI zhimuis getting together again;) It was funny when WY and I had just arrived at One U and Suz C asked us where we are. WY and I looked at each other and then, at signboards nearby. We were so blur!!!

The traffic jam that we got caught in. It was so slow-moving...zzzzz....

BAKERZIN at One Utama ~

We had lunch at Bakerzin, as recommended by Suz C since WY and I are so lost in One U. We don't really go there often...lol. Anyways, lunch was great. We were really hungry since it was quite late in the afternoon when we arrived. The place was really dope. It had a really nice and warm environment with modern interior design. The service was not bad although it was difficult to call one of the waiters when we wanted to pay the bill. I really wanted one slice of the yummy cakes that they had displayed at the front of the restaurant but I was really full after lunch and it was no point to take-away the cakes as it needs to be refridgerated immediately. Suz C likes the place so much she even applied for a membership card:)

Wai Yin and Suzanne at Bakerzin

Me and Wai Yin
Our three tapas - Pistachio Creme Brulee, Chocolate Fondue and Rasberry something (I forgot!)

Our cream cheese ice-cream. Dee-lee-cious!!! A must-order!!!

"Yoga keeps me flexible."

Really good pasta!!!

There were a lot of people in One U that day. Partly because they were having a televison live event - The Breakfast Show by NTV7. I just snapped some pics and later we left as there really were not any interesting things to see. I think one of the hosts was TV personality Sharifah Aleya.

After lunch, we went...what else? Shopping, of course! Suz C was looking for some handmade cards material but had no luck finding any (Sorry Suz, looks like you are not meant to do handmade cards during your hols!) but she bought a bundle of earrings (Ok, 5 to be exact). WY pulak, she bought a tank top and a blouse from FOS. And as for yours truly, I bought 2 pairs of earrings and a FOS tank top - combination of both of them...LOL!

I also bought seventeenmag and Penyiasat Remaja comic book;D

Earrings - 4 for RM10.oo & 3 for RM10.00. Me split with Suz C!

From FOS - 1 for RM9.90, 2 for RM16.oo. Me split with WY!

Suz C really went crazy with earrings...Haha:D She has the same white earrings as me and another pair with the same design in brown. WY has the same tank top as me too, but in white instead.

Thanks to Suz C's mother for giving WY and me a lift to the KTM station where we took the train back to our areas. First time me taking KTM from Kepong Sentral. 10 stations and moving at about 4okm/h makes me and WY very sleepy...lol.

Me and WY enjoying some sushis while waiting for our train

***************************

I finally gave WY her little gift. She has been quite crazy about these bears for a long time. Every time we go to Times Sq or Sg Wang, she will stopped and check them out. I always make fun of her as I did not see anything interesting about the bears and then she will merajuk at me for making fun of her. Haha:D
Suz M actually helped me picked this out. The DR symbol stands for Medicine (as in DR = abbreviation for Doctor) and the RX is actually the symbol for Pharmacy, in case anyone did not know. I didn't know before this until we studied History of Pharmacy in our Introduction to Pharmacy classes.

This way, whenever WY looks at the bear, she will remember Hanson Chu (Medic student) and Moi (Pharm student) who are studying at UKM KKL!

***********************************

I received my b'day present - a really cool T-shirt that I had wanted to get since WY and I first saw it in Times Sq. At that time when I wanted to buy it, WY told me not to get it. Now I know why...lol. I REALLY like it. It is so cheeky. LOL;D

Thanks to Wai Yin, Suzanne and Jino;)

Bukan sahaja cun tetapi pandai jugak!

Thanks WY! Feel very 'gan dong' pulak! *Sniff*
